Tour 4: Mathematic Bozen-Bolzano City-Tour and local “Marende” snack and beer at Paulaner Stube

PICTURE: © Enrico Fumagalli – Unsplash

Description: guided tour in English through the city Bozen-Bolzano. Modern Math is in town. Indeed, the cathedral gives hints to the calculus for non-smooth functions (no derivatives, but …). The choice of a restaurant for dinner becomes a matter of comparing whole sets of objects with each other. We will look at the number e (pictures can be taken) and discuss the difference between risk and uncertainty while crossing a street (well, maybe better after …). Greetings from the Bernoulli family included as well as from a real knight. Convexity is an issue, polytopes are everywhere and Euler joins for one of his (many) famous formulas. You may get puzzled since space is divided regularly and irregularly, but you can put it back together with your own hands. A special farewell gift waits for every participant. At the end of the guided tour, a traditional “Marende” snack and beer will be offered at Paulaner Stuben, a beer house located in one of the oldest buildings in the city, the “Troyburg” from the 13th century.
